cuba

every year, UNC's journalism school plans an international trip where students work on group projects. last year, we went to panama, where i worked with a dear friend and colleague sophia on this piece, la reina. (our entire project is online here) this year, i went as an assistant coach to havana, cuba, and got to see some of the incredible projects the students worked on. (their projects can be seen here).

there are always questions to be asked when we go into someone else's community, and especially when it is a large group of people who for the most part, don't speak the language. i hope that the programs at the school continue to ask these questions and seek ethical and responsible answers.

i was mostly helping translate and think through story ideas, but i took a few photographs while there. i'd love to go back.
